Dr. Leung's Organic-Inorganic Supramolecular & Hybrid Nanomaterials Chemistry Group. Our research orients around several areas involving both organic and inorganic chemistry with an emphasis on nanomaterials chemistry:
(1) Synthesis of hybrid nanomaterials for drug delivery, theranostics and catalysis,
(2) Synthesis and manipulation of supramolecules as molecular machines responsive to external stimuli (e.g. pH, light, redox, heat...etc.)
(3) MRI applications of magnetic iron oxide-based nanoparticles
(4) Synthesis of discretely functionalized gold nanoparticles,
(5) Synthesis of novel interlocked supramolecules such as rotaxanes and their polymers
(6) Supramolecular catalytic, sensor, and energy nanomaterials.

Highlights
The need for curbing nuclear waste produced from modern technological industries is very important as it poses risk to health and ecosystem. Recently, technologies involving the use of nanomaterials to remove these wastes have shown certain positive results.
Dr. Leung recently received a long service award for teaching and learning at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong (ranked the best dental school in the world by QS World Universities Rankings by Subject in 2015, 2016, and 2017).
